The IRS recently announced that beginning May 13, 2019, there will be new requirements for obtaining an EIN (Employer Identification Number) for an entity.
Previously, individuals were permitted to use an EIN from an existing entity to acquire an EIN for a new entity. The original entity was therefore considered the "responsible party".
Beginning May 13th, the individual responsible for the entity must use their social security number or individual tax identification number on the EIN application.
